The President’s Culture Commission, based on two recommendations from the Task Force on Workplace Standards and Employee Wellness, has decided to move forward with a university-wide cultural values assessment using a survey created by Barrett Values Centre and to form a working group that will help implement culture initiatives and ensure the commission is receiving input from our community.

The working group and the Office of Ethics and Compliance will utilize feedback from the process to assist in the redrafting of the university’s Code of Ethics.

The university has announced the appointment of Felicia Washington as the Senior Vice President for HR, overseeing all HR functions and leading the effort to create a professionalized, high-performing HR organization at USC. HR has also implemented enhanced background screens for new executive hires and promotions to leadership positions, and is currently rolling out new background screening process for all employees to further strengthen reference checks and behavioral assessments of employment candidates. The project to centralize and digitize all personnel files to increase HR oversight is underway; completion is estimated for 2019.
